About the Position: Serves as specialist, action officer and program representative responsible for performing a variety of technical, analytical, advisory, consultative, liaison, and coordinating duties related to planning, maintaining and implementing the Camp Parks Reserve Forces Training Area (PRFTA) Command Safety Program.

Duties

Serves as safety action officer responsible for performing a variety of technical, and coordinating duties related to planning, and implementing the Camp Parks, Training Area (PRFTA) Command Safety Program. Develop accident prevention promotional material for safety awareness. Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates safety policies, standards and regulatory, requirements for maintaining the Environmental, OSHA, and Industrial Hygiene safety program compliance. Determine effectiveness of the safety and occupational health program. Plans, schedule, and conduct inspections in various and differing establishments and work sites to determine compliance with general safe work practices. Reviews and implements safety campaigns and accident countermeasure plans as provided by higher headquarters.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
• This position requires the incumbent to file a SF 312, Classified Information Non-Disclosure Agreement.
• This position requires the incumbent to have completed Level I Skills related training as outlined in the Army Career Program (CP-12) Master Training Plan or within one year of appointment.

OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
