THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number D1724000 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard.

Duties

As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-08, you will develop plans, procedures, goals and objectives in support of the Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management Programs using an extensive knowledge of Department of Defense (DOD), Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA), United States Air Force (USAF) and Air National Guard (ANG) directives, policies and standards. Programs include physical examinations and standards, flight medicine and related aero medical and force health management concerns. Interprets directives and applies standards to determine worldwide deployability of personnel. Advises and makes recommendations to senior officials on force health issues related to physical exams, standards and flight medicine activities to ensure compliance. Determines requirements, requests funding and administers accounts for procurement of supplies, equipment, and medical assessment in support of the physical exam process, flight medicine activities and related programs. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

• NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND OPM PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK"
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within one year of appointment.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-5 through E-7 Compatible Military Assignments: 4E091 *Must be willing and able to cross train into the compatible AFSC GENERAL EXPERIENCE: An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year experience equivalent to at least next lower grade level to include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Do you have technician experience that requires the application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.

Education

NOTE: One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
