About the Position: Serves as the Chief of Staff (CoS) for the Seattle District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Exercise independent judgement and resourcefulness in the development and implementation of policies, programs, and operations. This work supports a workforce of approximately 900 employees delivering a full-service annual program in excess of $460M across Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon.
Duties
Manage assigned activities through direct supervision of assigned Support Office Chiefs, to include Public Affairs, Mission Support, Internal Review, Safety/Occupational Health, and other offices as directed.
Outlines policy and overall program requirements and objectives to subordinate supervisors; provides technical advice and guidance as required.
Initiates priority or special assignments based on changing local situation or higher echelon directives affecting existing programs, deadlines, and objectives.
Performs short and long-range planning in conjunction with prospective changes in USACE missions and programs.
Principal staff advisor to the District Commander, Deputy Commander, and Deputy for Planning, Programs, and Project Management Division (DPM).
Directs the implementation of regulations, directives, and procedures affecting assigned functions. Studies, analyzes, and interprets the effects and keeps key leaders informed of their impact.

- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is approximately 25%.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes all of the following duties: (1) conducting short or long-range planning for programs; (2) coordinating resolutions of broad and difficult program and policy issues; (3) develop content for detailed correspondence, memoranda, or reports; AND (4) provide written and verbal communications delivering public announcements, presentations or briefs. (ALL four must be thoroughly and clearly addressed in your resume to be referred to the selection panel). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
