About the Position: Serve as a Construction Control Inspector for the Engineering Division for the Directorate of Public Works at USAG Fort Eisenhower, GA.

Duties

Manage receipt, processing and adjudication of task order submittals and contractor Requests for Information Assist with processing of contractor invoices, Contracting Officer Representative (COR) Monthly Reports, and Contractor Performance Evaluations. Ensure conformance of the Contractor Quality Control System with contract requirements. Ensure project statuses are updated and maintained in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures. Manage field inspection of contractor operations and construction processes to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and provisions of the contract. Assist with coordination of all post-award, design, construction, turnover, closeout, and warranty meetings in accordance with contract requirements. Attend pre-bid site visits and pre-construction conferences to discuss principal construction features and requirements related to methods and equipment. Interpret plans, specifications, and provisions of the contract with the contractor and Contracting Officer after contract task order award. Prepare preliminary sketches of mark-up drawing to show as-built conditions.

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Must possess valid driver's license and required to operate Government vehicle no more than one ton.
  • TDY travel is occasionally required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Managing a variety of repair and maintenance projects such as buildings, air conditioning, heating and electrical distribution, roadways, concrete and asphalt work, radar facilities, utilities, earthwork, foundations and any other project within the jurisdiction of the construction program; 2) Overseeing construction contracts; AND 3) Ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and contract provisions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree (a) with a major study in engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as drafting, surveying, mathematics, physical science, industrial technology, industrial arts, or technical subjects pertinent to construction; or engineering technician work such as electricity, material testing, or engineering mechanics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
