This position is located at the Acoma-Canoncito-Laguna Indian Health Center (ACLIHC), Business Office, Patient Accounts. The positions provide: 1) preparation and submission of various manually prepared reports; 2) initiating collection activities; and 3) performing a variety of duties pertaining to Medicare, Medicaid, and Private insurance for the Business Office.

Duties

Maintains accounts by reviewing documents to verity accounting data and enters data into the system as necessary reconciles accounts comparing account balances with related data to ensure agreement. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation and recapitulation of third-party billing to ensure collections, billed data computerized and manual reports are in balance. Maintains automated accounts receivable ledger associated with third-party payer claims. Assists the supervisor to locate and resolve unreconciled accounts receivable subledger accounts. Reviews and examines various bill types of patient care to third-party payers and performs third-party collection posting to the automated account receivable program. Analyze various detailed accounts receivable (AR) reports and database exports to research and identify the transactions causing the discrepancies.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: utilizing accounting systems, standard accounting codes, classifications, and terminology sufficient to perform account maintenance and accounting technician support; accessing and extracting financial data; monitoring status of transactions to ensure accounts are up to date; compiling statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports pertaining to accountable payable and receivables; and performing various administrative functions for assigned accounts. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
