About the Position: This position is for a Social Service Representative with Department of Behavioral Health, Family Advocacy located at El Paso, TX.

Duties

Perform case management services in alleged and identified cases of child abuse /neglect or domestic abuse. Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate services to meet patient's behavioral health needs. Co-facilitate psycho-education and/or support groups. Monitor treatment participation and progress with designated treatment providers. Maintain case records according to standards of professional practice and regulations. Participate on multidisciplinary medical treatment teams to coordinate and monitor treatment plans.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations
  • Requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
  • Required to be screen for applicable immunizations.
  • TDY up to 5% may be required.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating behavioral health clients to determine required services; facilitating psycho-educational or support groups; and maintaining client files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Child and Family Welfare, Counseling, Family and Community Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Sociology, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. The total must equal at least 100% to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailCustomer ServiceReasoningTeamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????08).
