This is a Merit appointment for a POLICE OFFER (CIVLIAN LIASION) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Position is located with the US Army Installation Command, Directorate of Emergency Services, Police/Provost Marshall Division in Redstone Arsenal.

Duties

Support installation commanders by maintain communication and relationships with civilian Law Enforcement. Track military personnel who are deserters, absent without leave, or confined by civilian authorities. Provide support to unit commander to ensure that legal requirements from military personnel are understood by the individual. Ensure effective operation of the Automated Law Enforcement Reporting System (ALERTS) and the subsequent of police reports, forms, and records are prepared and processed in accordance with applicable regulation and guidelines. Monitor crime trends and apply/direct law enforcement assets and personnel to ensure the safety and security of the soldiers. family members and civilian employee workforce on Redstone Arsenal.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be graduated from the Department of the Army Civilian Police Academy, or be willing to complete within one year, or have a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes to include, weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System training requirements.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56. (see additional information section)
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • This is a Mission Essential position.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.

Experience tracking military personnel who are deserters, absent without leave or confined by civilian authorities. Experience identifying military personnel who have been detained by civilian law enforcement and coordinates for their return to military control.
