This position is located in USDA Rural Development Alabama State Office. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Tribal Relations Specialist for the tribal communities within the state.
This is not a remote position.
Duties
Promotes programs and projects to aid in accomplishing State Indian Reservation related development goals.
Develops strategies for optimum improvement for individuals and communities on reservations.
Provided guidance and assistance to tribal communities with loan and grant applications.
Provides education, technical assistance and financial programs to tribal communities.
Represents the State Director in meetings with councils, authorities, boards and the state legislature.
Requirements

- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS- 11; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates: Examined and endorsed loans or grants for lower socioeconomic populations; Interpreted laws and regulations (i.e. local, state, federal) and applied them to job duties; Led meetings or townhall type meetings with various members of a local community; Written and/ or orally presented complex subjects and tailored the subjects to meet audiences level of understanding. There is no substituting education for specialized experience.
