Duties

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Band 3 IT Operations Engineers coordinate the integration, deployment, sustainment, maintenance, and operations of systems and services. They provide a broad range of IT support for GEOINT operations and are accountable for the success of integration projects and ensuring alignment with Agency priorities and business strategies. They support the documentation, validation, accreditation, and authorization processes necessary to ensure that information technology systems meet information assurance and security requirements prescribed by NGA and mission partners.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Demonstrated experience configuring and troubleshooting an operating system.2. Demonstrated experience administering TCP/IP based Local Area Networks and/or satellite communication systems.3. Demonstrated experience installing and troubleshooting workstation (desktop or laptop) hardware and/or network attached storage hardware.4. Demonstrated ability to identify and execute technical solutions for desktop and/or service-based requirements.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Engineering, Engineering Management, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Technology Management, or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience in IT operations, system engineering, system testing and evaluation, IT project management, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in IT operations, system engineering, system testing and evaluation, IT project management, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. -AND- LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: DAWIA Certification may be required for this position; See Position License and Certification Requirements for additional details. New Acquisition Workforce members or members transferring to a different or higher skill level will have, upon position entry, thirty-six months, forty-eight months, or sixty months, depending on the DAWIA Tier required, to achieve their certification. Current Acquisition Workforce members must maintain their current certification by achieving 80 Continuous Learning hours every twenty-four months. -AND- Relevant Competencies: IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Demonstrated experience scripting of system administration tasks using PowerShell.2. Demonstrated experience manipulating and visualizing data with Python, Microsoft Excel, or Tableau.3. Hold a DOD 8570 IAT Level 1 Security certification such as Security+ or equivalent.4. Demonstrated experience configuring, troubleshooting, and administering Linux systems. 5. Demonstrated experience with host and network-based security solutions. 6. Demonstrated experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) and/or Big Data.
