Reports to the OSG Flight Procedures Office Team Manager. The incumbent is expected to perform work independently resolving potentially controversial or sensitive issues. Results of work performed are considered technically authoritative and conclusions and recommendations are accepted.

Duties

Performs multiple, varying and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced technical specialist. Serves as technical specialist with full responsibility for planning, sequencing, directing, and evaluating assigned projects related to the National Airspace System (NAS). Acts as principal technical specialist or as project manager or team leader for large work activities. Serves as the advisor to the OSG Team Manager for activities of large-projects.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • Security Requirement: Non-Sensitive (1). This position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a background investigation prior to appointment.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level FV-I, FG/GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.Specialized experience includes: experience as a technical specialist for one or more of the following program areas:Development, maintenance and revision of terminal/en-route Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs); Ensuring IFPs are coordinated and integrated into the NAS and provide for safe operation of aircraft.Collecting, evaluating and verifying aeronautical data. Providing subject matter guidance on automation applications as used by Aeronautical Information Services.Development of Instrument Flight Procedures (IFP), working with Instrument Procedures Development Systems (IPDS), Instrument Approach Procedures Automation (IAPA) and Terminal Area Route Generations and Traffic Simulations (TARGETS)Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement.Special Note Concerning Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): As a part of the Federal-Wide Hiring Reform Initiative (streamlining the hiring process), the FAA is committed to eliminating the use of the Knowledge, Skills and Ability (KSA) narratives from the initial application in the hiring process for all announcements.
