You will serve as a WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR LEADER in the PUBLIC WORKS OFFICE, PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will be responsible for the efficient operation and general maintenance of the water treat plant and area control center. You will plan, schedule, and organize the work of the water plant to assure quality, completeness timeliness, and productivity. You will evaluate the treated water quality. You will operate the complete primary water treatment facility and regulate inlet water control to meet daily demands. You will work with the general public and provide assistance for water quality concerns.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current State of California Water Treatment Operator T3 Certification and Water Distribution Operator D3 certification (or must obtain certifications within 6 months of official start date).
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: 1) Analyzing treated and untreated water with physical, chemical, and bacteriological methods; 2) Operating flash mixers, clarifiers, mixed media filters; 3) Assisting with the preparation of routine operation records and maintaining logs and worksheets; and 4) Operating water treatment facilities and regulating inlet water control to meet demands. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
