You will serve as a ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT SPECIALIST in the US. NAVAL OBSERVATORY of NAVOBSERV.

Duties

You will perform a variety of administrative functions essential to the operation of the administrative management of the Command Management Department. You will conduct or participate in the evaluation of administrative programs, systems and methods and identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of these services at the command. You will manage automated controlled correspondence systems for correspondence logging and tracking. You will compose and review correspondence for grammar, format, attachments and compliance with policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience interpreting and implementing a wide array of policies, procedures, and directives permitting the independent execution of the full range of required work. Experience implementing new or revised programs within the Program based on directions from higher headquarters. Experience preparing instructions and location operating procedures for the Department Head, for the implementation of required regulations as well as maintaining follow-up to ensure compliance with instructions. Experience coordinating special programs such as Training, Performance Management, new employee orientation programs, advising and collaborating with supervisors concerning on-the-job training and assists in establishing training plans. Experience managing automated controlled correspondence systems for correspondence logging and tracking. Experience composing and reviewing correspondence for grammar, format, attachments and compliance with the Department of the Navy policies and procedures. Experience tracking special projects, studies and other initiatives handled by staff and keeps supervisor informed of milestones and accomplishments. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR

OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
