This term Biologist position is located in Yosemite National Park, in the Resources Management & Science Division.
This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of 10 years. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
Duties
Plans and implements vegetation projects, (ecological restoration, revegetation, or invasive plant management), including planning, project design, budget, coordination, implementation and tracking.
Directs and supports field crews, including hiring, onboarding, training, assigning work, adjusting work plans, supporting employee development and evaluating performance. Manages an effective safety program to safeguard persons, environment, facilities and equipment.
Incorporates appropriate GIS technology into job to provide comprehensive and scientifically sound answers to inquiries from managers and others. Uses automated methods of data collection, analysis or illustration. Inputs data into digital form.
Evaluate project results by adapting monitoring or assessment protocols, collecting, managing, summarizing, and analyzing spatial and tabular data and reporting results in written and graphical formats.
In concert with the supervisor or a higher graded specialist, prepares specific resource action plans and strategies needed to successfully manage, restore, and protect natural ecosystems.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.

Basic Requirements
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirements you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below.
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: (1) Coordinate the implementation of scientifically credible ecological restoration projects; (2) Collection, maintain, summarize and report on natural resource data in order to ensure highly credible data acquisition and reporting; and (3) provides advice, assistance and training to field crews, students, student conservationist assistants and volunteers involved in resource management projects and field research.
You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 2 years of graduate level education leading to a masters degree or a masters degree or masters degree equivalent in a related field as described above. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours and experience as described above.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
