Serves as an Aviation Safety Assistant in a Flight Standards Field Office. Provides administrative support to Aviation Safety Inspectors by obtaining background data, preparing reports, reviewing applications, interviewing applicants, processing certificates, and maintaining office files.

Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
- Typing Proficiency: You must self-certify on your application that you are able to type 40 words per minute. Failure to indicate this on your application will eliminate you from consideration.
- Security Requirement: Low Risk (1). This position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a background investigation prior to appointment.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the FG-6 level:You must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FG-5 or FV-D (FG-5/6) level. Specialize experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.Specialized experience includes:Performing a variety of administrative and clerical work, such as, assist in researching, writing and typing non-technical and routine correspondence; reviewing and distributing incoming correspondence; maintaining files; general office support; preparing reports; examining documents for accuracy and completeness; entering and retrieving information from a variety of automated systems.To qualify for this position at the FG-7 level:You must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FG-6 or FV-D (FG-5/6) level.
