About the Position: The incumbent will be assigned to the 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Supply and Services Division, at Fort Moore, Georgia.

Duties

Direct and manage the installation Food Service program. Plan, develop, and prioritize overall operational and logistics requirements to ensure proper use of food service resources. Oversee execution of the feeding mission through the use of contracts at multiple Warrior Restaurants. Provide oversight of the Subsistence Supply Management Office supporting receipt, store, and issue of Class I operational rations. Develop projections for, monitor the implementation of, and provide guidance and information concerning the food service budget. Oversee that food safety and sanitation programs are in accordance with standards in the Tri Service Food Code. Perform on-going evaluations of the Installation's food program doctrine, policy, plans, procedures, operations, and support systems with an emphasis on the management and a view toward improvements and recommendations to the commander. Perform planning for the LRC by analyzing food service mission assignments, establishing program objectives, and developing current and long range plans for accomplishment of assigned functions. Plan and assign work, set priorities, advise employees on program goals and objectives, and make decisions on work problems presented by subordinate employees.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain food service safety certifications required by Technical Bulletin Medical 530-Tri Serviced Food Code and Army Regulation 30-22 Army Food Program.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with Department of Defense Directive 5500-7-R.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time. Travel may include site visits to stateside and overseas locations.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Current Civilian Employees of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Fort Moore Logistics Readiness Center, within the local commuting area. Consideration will also be given to current Department of Army Civilian employees with competitive status. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Managing an organization's food service programs and/or operations; 2) Ensuring funding requirements for food service operations are included in an organization's budget; 3) Monitoring compliance with food sanitation provisions; and 4) Utilizing automated systems to monitor and/or track food service activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Contract ManagementFood Service OperationsLeadershipPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
