About the Position: As a Public Affairs Specialist for the Sacramento District, assists in communication guidance, executes strategic communications activities, manages employee services, and provides input to the Public Affairs Office.
Duties
Prepares and/or coordinates with subject matter experts on the development of presentations and message points for key issues and enhances staff and employee situational awareness of key issues through a variety of command products.
Provides input to the Public Affairs Officer in overseeing the district command information program, developing and managing appropriate technology and traditional systems for keeping employees situationally aware and informed.
Provides input to the Public Affairs Officer in managing the district's media services program to include media response procedures, media spokesperson training, traditional media services and technology support features.
Responds to information requests from local, regional, and national news media.
Promotes collaboration to encourage knowledge sharing, brainstorming, and working together to solve problems.

Minimum Qualifications
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) editing informational materials for message effectiveness such as news releases, fact sheets, talking points, and speeches; 2) maintaining working relationships with local media representatives to communicate impacts and benefits of agency projects and programs; AND 3) tailoring public involvement strategies for audiences impacted by agency projects and programs.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
