This National Guard position is for a INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN - TITLE 5, Position Description Number PDT5429000 and is part of the KY COA, National Guard.
Duties
As a INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN - TITLE 5, GS-0640-9, you will plan, schedule, execute, manage, and administer the KY ARNG Industrial Hygiene Program. Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and NGB regulations and standards. Survey, inspect, and evaluate facilities to identify, evaluate and reduce health hazards. Identify the physical, biological, chemical, and radiological health hazards in the workplace. Evaluate the exposure to workers and recommend the appropriate corrective action. Coordinate with the Occupational Health Nurse (OHN), Shop Supervisor, and Regional IH to develop the most prudent plan of action in response to acute exposures and chronic illnesses. Review plans for construction and renovation projects to ensure applicable standards are incorporated. Maintain and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets for employees, shop supervisors, and OHN. Provide advice for Hazardous Material Communication training. Coordinate with Safety and Warehouse personnel regarding receipt, storage, and shipment of hazardous chemicals. Assist the OHN with the management of the state Army National Guard Respiratory Protection Program. Serve as the advisor to the Radiation Protection Officer. Support the development of local emergency cleanup procedures for accidental releases. Conduct noise surveys, sound level measurements, and octave band analysis. Recommend changes and/or hearing protective devices as corrective measures where excessive noise levels are found. Advise on ergonomics in the workplace. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-07) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the experience and knowledge of OSHA, DOD, Department of Army, NGB, and ARNG laws, regulations and policies related to occupational health and industrial hygiene. Experience conducting surveys, inspections, and evaluations of areas to eliminate hazards. Experience collecting chemical, material, noise, and air samples. Experience briefing supervisors, managers and employees on hazardous operations or conditions. Knowledge of proper procedures for the handling, storage, and disposal of toxic and hazardous waste. Experience maintaining files and publications pertaining to industrial hygiene activities.
