The Facility MOVE Program Coordinator has full responsibility for administering all aspects of the local weight management initiative to support the health and well-being of the Veteran population and the employees who care for them. This involves leading an interdisciplinary team who is responsible for all levels of the facility MOVE program, both for Veterans and employees.

Duties

Program Planning and Management: Full responsibility for managing and may supervise all phases of the MOVE! Weight Management Program at CMCVAMC. Establishes and maintains a continuous and systematic process of curriculum development, assessment, review, revision, evaluation and implementation of the weight management program. The individual plans and develops policies, procedures and goals, and implements and educates staff on applicable VHA directives, handbooks, or other policies. Assures local compliance to the VHA Weight Management Program Directive. Tracks data as it relates to MOVE!/Weight Management in the facility. Coordinates with the multidisciplinary team to develop local goals. Measures progress toward the goals and reports to the appropriate officials at a local, VISN and national level. Serves as the professional and technical advisor in the area of weight management for the facility. Promotes health through weight management to facility employees. Participates in agency operational or planning meetings, public briefings, or other formal or informal settings to publicize weight management program accomplishments and to solicit resources or other forms of support and cooperation necessary to ensure program success. Utilizes effective written and oral communication skills to promote and maintain effective working relationships with all faculty and significant parties at the national, state and local level. Knowledge of more complex investigative processes and techniques to direct or participate in the design of studies, collect data, conduct statistical analysis, interpret findings, and translate results into written and oral communications. Ability to set priorities, delegate tasks, meet multiple deadlines, analyze organizational problems, and develop and implement effective solutions. Performs, under general administrative supervision with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, work of high complexity, patient load and responsibility. Serves as a consultant within the nutrition and food services and with other facility health care staff in evaluating health care delivery to Veterans and employees. Manages i.e., plan, organize, delegate, direct, control, review, activities of the program and groups of subordinates. Participates in professional organizations and meetings. Quality: Maintains up-to-date program information accessible through web sites. Develops materials for the medical center intranet site as it relates to Weight Management for Veterans and staff. Develops, maintains, and supervises a system of internal reviews and direct quality control and performance improvement studies to assure compliance with various accrediting, regulatory, and agency authorities. Knowledge of the principles of program management and oversight required to develop program goals and objectives, administer and monitor program, evaluate program outcomes/accomplishments, set and redefine priorities, and implement effective solutions in processes/systems as needed. Ability to manage and establish program goals and objectives, plan and administer a program, coordinate associated activities and resources, evaluate program accomplishments, redefine priorities, problem solve, and modify objectives. Remains up-to-date in areas impacting the direction and administration of the MOVE program. Direct Program Involvement: Coordinates and directs the MOVE! staff in a professional manner. Conducts regular meetings with MOVE! staff. Keeps minutes of the meetings. Keeps track of data and monitors trend information for reporting. Incorporates technology into the development of course content and learning opportunities for the participants in the weight management program. Clinical Duties: Counsels Veterans to promote health and wellness through weight control. Considers the individual and modifies the plan according to individual needs. Ability to act as a consultant for staff. Teaches weight management classes for Veterans and staff. Conducts a comprehensive nutritional assessment for patients with all available information and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions. Develops and implements individualized plans for medical nutritional care. Annotates all interventions in the electronic medical records. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD): Must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA). English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in a direct patient care position unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to perform the duties of this position. Education: Bachelor's degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent. Education and Supervised Practice: Completed an ACEND accredited or approved supervised practice program. Supervised practice programs are post-baccalaureate degree programs that provide supervised practice experiences which meet the eligibility requirements and accreditation standards of ACEND, formally known as CADE. Completion of a coordinated program in dietetics fulfills the requirements of a supervised practice program. Time spent in a dietetic internship or supervised practice program does not qualify as creditable experience. Registration/Certification: Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Advanced Level Practice Dietitians must possess a minimum of one advanced practice credential relevant to the area of practice, (e.g. Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Board Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR), Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition (CSG), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), or Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO)). Current VHA Dietitians that qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision may not be promoted to a higher grade if they do not meet the current RDN/RD requirements. Grade Determinations: Experience: Completion of 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level such as: Staff dietitian at the full performance level GS-11, Registered dietitian responsible for independently planning, developing and directing all nutrition care activities (e.g., food service and/or clinical nutrition). Registered dietitian serving as important member of the interdisciplinary team of care providers, and focus on offering exceptional nutrition care and guidance to optimize health. Registered dietitian working in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, outpatient centers, residential treatment programs and patient homes; Responsible for using evidence-based approaches to develop menus, counsel patients and provide nutrition care. AND Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs and demonstrate the potential to acquire the assignment-specific KSAs designated by an asterisk (*): Ability to develop, maintain, and supervise a system of internal reviews and direct quality control and performance improvement studies to assure compliance with various accrediting, regulatory, and agency authorities. Knowledge of the principles of program management and oversight required to develop program goals and objectives, administer and monitor program, evaluate program outcomes/accomplishments, set and redefine priorities, and implement effective solutions in processes and/or systems as needed. Ability to act as a consultant for staff. *Ability to determine the continuing education needs of staff and appropriate resources to meet those needs. *Knowledge of human resource management principles and the ability to manage/supervise, i.e, plan, organize, delegate, direct, control, review activities of groups of subordinates. Knowledge of the principles and practices of nutrition care and the treatment of complex cases in clinical settings in order to develop, implement, and coordinate best practices and supervise clinical nutrition staff. Physical Requirements: The work environment involves everyday risks of discomforts, which require safety precautions typical of hospitals, offices, and meeting rooms. Work includes working closely with others. There may be occasional risk of physical harm from a violent resident that may require special precautions and training to deal with. The physical demands of the work requires light lifting under 15 lbs., light carrying under 15 lbs., the use of fingers, and both hands are required. Reaching above shoulder, walking on uneven or slippery surfaces and standing (4 hrs.), outside and inside environments. Near Vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4 & Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20-/40 in the other. Both eyes required, and have Depth Perception, Hearing (aid use is permitted). **Other **(Clear Speech, Emotional Stability). Must be able to work closely with others and work alone as well.
