You will serve as a MAINTENANCE INSPECTOR in the PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will perform a general inspection of electrical distribution and all types of electrical circuits and wiring. You will perform visual and test inspections using state-of-the-art instruments/techniques to probe areas of suspicion, meters to check voltage and amps and sensors to check for hot spots. You will plan the inspection route and perform control and preventive maintenance inspections on electrical utilities systems including grounding, switches, electrical control devices, lighting, wiring and associated circuit components. You will coordinate with the facilities Engineering Department to obtain necessary specifications, drawings, and sketches required to perform the work and make verbal or written recommendations as to work priority. You will list all deficiencies in the inspection database and enter preliminary estimates on the cost of repairs based on previous estimates, means, or personal knowledge of time and materials. You will review building codes (i.e. National Electrical Code, Fire Code, Construction/Repair Codes, Mechanical Codes) to ensure work requested and performed is in compliance. You will monitor electrical work operations to verify journeymen follow procedures and guidelines.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
