This position is located at the Fort Yates Service Unit in Ft. Yates, ND. The purpose of this position is to perform plumbing and heating work and other trades and crafts duties as required. This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19.

Duties

Removes and replaces parts and components of the assigned heat-pump units. Performs visual checks of the units on a regular basis and changes the circulating pumps as needed. Performs plumbing related duties which involve removing, cleaning, replacing, packing and sealing defective parts of utility, supply and disposal systems. Performs minor electrical related duties such as wiring furnace motors and setting thermostats, hooking up electrical hot water heaters, etc. Constructs minor additions and makes repairs to buildings not involving extensive alterations or changes to the original framing of the structure. Operates snow removal equipment to clear streets, driveways and parking areas, shovels snow from steps and sidewalks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: WG-8: Experience and training that included following simple oral or written instructions and/or work orders; performing maintenance mechanic duties, including use and apply standard building techniques, practices, and codes, read and understand blueprints, sketches and schematics, read and understand work orders in order to complete assigned work, use and maintain pneumatic hand tools, use and maintain shop tools, drill press, band saw, table saw, etc., follow manufacturer's instructions for use of power tools, follow safety manuals on operation of tools and equipment, follow safety guidelines working with oils and lubricants, working with inert gases and solvents, acids, adhesives, sealants, paints, oils and lubricants while performing maintenance tasks, respond to frequent changes in instructions, with respect to the team, project and/or task. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
