You will serve as a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST in the NLSC.
Duties
You will respond to telephonic inquiries, correspondence, and electronic mail and messages that are of concern to the VLCP (Victims' Legal Counsel).
You will create and maintain database spreadsheets using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and other internal data collection programs for statistical purposes.
You will directly support VLCP (Victims' Legal Counsel) attorneys in the representation of VLCP (Victims' Legal Counsel) clients.
You will research local and federal relevant statutes, regulations, and procedures, including those related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and civilian protective orders.
You will provide independent legal analysis and case summaries on relevant case law and other legal precedents, as needed.
You will provide VLCP (Victims' Legal Counsel) briefs, outreach, training and updates to advance awareness of the VLCP (Victims' Legal Counsel) mission, policy, legal precedent and improve VLCP (Victims' Legal Counsel) operations, as required.
Requirements

Qualifications
GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying advanced knowledge of legal principles and concepts to interpret a body of law, regulations, precedents, and practices in support of trial proceedings for an organization. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as: 1) Managing attorney case files and case management systems for Victims Legal Counsel 2) Conducting independent legal research and analysis using systems such as LEXIS NEXIS, WESTLAW, and/or VTA 3) Preparing and reviewing legal correspondence, pleadings, case summaries, and other legal documents to verify factual and legal content, legal sufficiency, and admissibility in court related to Victims' Legal Counsel and victim eligible offenses.
GS-09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying advanced knowledge of legal principles and concepts to interpret a body of law, regulations, precedents, and practices in support of trial proceedings for an organization. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as: 1) Assisting with the preparation and reviewing of legal pleadings, case summaries, legal memoranda, and written correspondence in compliance with Victims' Legal Counsel 2) Scheduling and maintaining appointment calendars for attorneys, 3) Conducting legal research in the areas of victim eligible offenses. 4) Creating and maintaining database spreadsheets for statistical purposes.

Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-11:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
