Duties
Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide quality customer service by efficiently providing and processing information relating to education services, civilian and military training, and OJT programs.
Duties
Serves as a customer service representative.
Assists clients in determining career and academic goals.
Advises qualified personnel on Air Force tuition assistance (AFTA) procedures.
Updates, inquires, and processes actions through the Personnel Data System and Defense Joint Military Pay System (DJMS).
Coordinates and schedules classroom use for both academic institutions and military organizational requirements.
Performs routine and miscellaneous clerical work to include processing incoming mail, maintaining files and posting updates as necessary, and preparing/maintaining office forms of various types.
Uses varied and advanced functions of office automation software to create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other textual documents.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes, (1) Knowledge of a body of standardized rules, regulations and procedures to perform or explain a range of clerical procedures in support of the educational services and training programs and to resolve recurring problems; (2) Knowledge of procedures, requirements, and terminology related to the educational services and training programs to process requests, compile periodic training reports, maintain educational development files and records, and provide general information about the courses available; (3) Knowledge of coding for the automated personnel system to enter data and to correct errors, Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. A qualified typist is required.

EDUCATION: Applicants must have successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of standardized rules, regulations, and procedures of educational programs.
2. Knowledge of satellite broadcast systems and/or associated electronic equipment to support the distance learning program.
3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
4. Ability to plan and organize work and to meet deadlines.
5. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. A qualified typist is required.
6. Working knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures to distribute mail, answer telephone, keep appointment calendar, maintain files/office forms, and order supplies.
7. Ability to read and interpret specific procedural guidelines pertaining to administrative support, including locally developed equipment operating and document processing instructions, which are directly applicable to the work.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
