Duties

You will sort recyclable materials into designated containers, processes the material by using machines and prepare the material for storage. You will assist in keeping record of items received, processed, and delivered to contractors. You will assist higher-grade employees in the loading, unloading, and transporting of recyclable material by truck and forklift. You will identify recyclables and process those items when turned in or collected. You will perform daily inspection and maintenance of recycling yards.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require rotating shift work.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be able to possess or obtain and maintain forklift operator certificate within 3 to 6 months of entry date.
  • This position requires mandatory use of all Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) to include but is not limited to N95 dust masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, sharps resistant gloves, alligator sleeves, aprons and safety boots.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position requires employees be enrolled in the Blood Borne Pathogen Medical Surveillance programs which will require a one-time baseline physical examination and review of required immunizations.
  • This position requires employees to attend annual blood borne pathogen training.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including collecting, receiving, storing, disposing and transporting of recyclable materials in compliance with local, State, and Federal Guidelines.
