This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, COMMANDAT, VICE COMMANDANT (CG-09)DEPUTY COMDT FOR OPERATIONS (CG-DCO),Performance Management Staff, in Martinsburg, WV.

Duties

This position serves as an Audit Coordinator is located on the Command Staff (NMC-0) and provides direct continuity between senior leadership and NMC and REC internalsystem and process audit activities and compliance measures. The incumbent serves as a specialist in mariner credentialing and service requirements and the ISO internal audit scheme.The incumbent oversees the internal audit program occurring at the Martinsburg, WV facility and at the 17 Regional Examination Centers (REC) and 2 Monitoring Units. The incumbent coordinates auditor activities and schedules, ensures auditor candidates are properly trained as Lead Auditors, conducts internal audits, procures commercially provided Lead Auditor training,and facilitates completion of corrective actions resulting from internal audits. The incumbent advises the MMS Coordinator, Audit Lead and senior leaders on efficacy of the internal auditprogram and seeks to resolve any program deficiencies. The incumbent collaborates with the NMC External Audit Staff as changes to the ISO 19011 audit scheme occur.

  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • This position may require a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications

AT THE GS-11 GRADE LEVEL:  Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Examples of specialized experience include:  Has previously completed ISO 9001 Lead Auditor training or other equivalent lead auditor training.  Has conducted organizational system or process audits.  Has interpreted and applied policy, standards, or requirements as part of auditing.  Has prepared correspondence including reports and presentations.  Has participated in briefings to senior management.  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and can show relevant examples with the resume.  National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
