About the Position: Serves as Operations Project Manager for a multi-purpose project office in the Kansas City District responsible for human resources, technical activities, fiscal accounting, and public relations. Supervises the management, operation, maintenance, repair and construction of a hydroelectric power plant with 6 generating units, spillways, navigation channels, parks, fish and wildlife habitats and performance of administration, clerical, and warehousing functions of the Project.

Duties

Responsible for the overall management and coordination of the various and diverse programs and functions of the multi-purpose project. Responsible for coordinating activities and issues with local, county, state and federal agencies; ,Ameron (operators of Lake of Ozarks power plant) coordination required by FERC license, special interest groups, and the various media. Utilizes a high degree of managerial ability and technical knowledge to plan, assign, direct, and review work operations of subordinate supervisors, employees, and contractors. Consults with supervisors and other key staff members to develop efficiencies, improvements and solutions to problems, resolution of operational and engineering issues, coordinate work efforts, and assure optimum mission accomplishment. Supervises the operation and electrical, mechanical, and general maintenance of the multipurpose dam and associated powerhouse, gated spillways, project buildings and grounds. Inspects and coordinates major maintenance, overhaul, improvement, preventative maintenance, and emergency repair programs. Executes dam surveillance program including maintenance, instrumentation inspections, monitoring and staff training. Serves as agency representative official on issues related to planning, implementation and monitoring of watershed management policies. Responsible for the maintenance of numerous recreation/natural resource areas on project lands and shorelines, and management of associated resources.

Written Test - Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination, or any other written test required for professional registration, by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. 3. Specified academic courses - Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in A above. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program. 4. Related curriculum - Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.
