In this position, you will serve as a logistics dispatcher in the Northeastern lnteragency Coordination Center, providing support to all the agencies within the Northeast that are supported by that dispatch center. The area covered by includes New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and the Canadian Providences.

Duties

Provide extended attack support for fires by processing resource order requests for personnel, equipment, supplies, and/or aircraft for all types of incidents Coordinate the mobilization, reassignment, and demobilization of fire fighting resources with other dispatch organizations Gather, process, and disseminate intelligence to help management and first responders create a plan of action Maintain logs, records, and reports as required Provide guidance to other dispatchers, including training new or visiting dispatchers Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement 05/09/2024 unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount qualified specialized experience. In order to be qualified at the GS-6 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-5 in the Federal service, providing fire emergency dispatch services using a variety of telecommunications equipment; processing requests for resources (e.g. personnel, supplies, equipment) in accordance with established procedures; gathering and disseminating intelligence and information to those on the scene of an emergency; and completing a variety of reports and forms to document dispatch activities. In order to be qualified at the GS-7 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-6 in the Federal service, providing fire emergency dispatch services using a variety of telecommunications equipment; coordinating emergency response efforts between multiple dispatch/first response units; providing guidance to others on dispatching policies, procedures, or tools; and completing a variety of reports and forms to document dispatch activities. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
