You will serve as a High Voltage Electrician in the Public Works Department, Utilities Division of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Duties

You will serve as a working leader overseeing the High Voltage Electricians. You will check work in progress, reports to the supervisor on status and causes of work delay and when complete makes sure procedures, methods and deadlines have been met. You will perform duties in construction, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution systems; performs work on highly complex system of electronic monitoring and control using specials purpose dedicated computers. You will manage the power distribution system which provides quick responses to distribution system problems, maintains and operates generators. You will perform high voltage electrical technical support such as locating cables and duct banks as needed for mapping and planning and for ongoing study of the electrical distribution system. You will perform power quality analysis on electrical power systems. You will maintain a current knowledge of the job, answers questions of other workers and makes sure there is enough work to keep everyone in the group busy.

  • Incumbent must be a fully qualified Journeyman Electrician (High Voltage)

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Repairing high voltage power generating and distributing equipment (e.g. generators, transformers, switches, circuit breakers, recording instruments, and control systems); 2) Reading circuit drawings and diagrams to identify electrical problems; 3) Using high voltage test tools (e.g. oscillators, meggers, phase sticks, and fault finding equipment); 4) Performs high voltage electrical technical support such as locating cables and duct banks as needed for mapping and planning and for ongoing study of the electrical distribution system; and 5) Using safety equipment such as hot sticks, rubber blankets, and insulated gloves when working on high voltage systems.
