You will serve as a Technician in the Surveillance Radar Division of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER, located in Virginia Beach, VA.

Duties

You will serve as Team Leader for the AN/SPS-40/49 radar system for the Naval Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division, Surveillance Radar Division. You will analyze, investigate, and recommend technical solution to critical design problems that will have significant impact on the success of the Navy's Air Surveillance Radar. You will work independently and within the E31 team to interpret Technical and Performance Specifications to perform radar system technical assistance. You will advise Sponsors, Command/Department/Division Management, and Customer Advocates on Courses of Actions in regards to financial planning, strategic business objectives, potential resource issues. You will prepare formal reports, studies and documents which are properly organized, accurate, and effective. You will review system changes and proposals for impact on performance, reliability, maintainability, availability, logistic support, safety and life cycle cost. You will initiate and/or review, correct, and evaluated engineering change proposals prior to submission to the Configuration Control Board.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band NT-04 (GS-11/12) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing technical radar system problems to develop and recommend solutions in support of the repair and modification of the Navy's Air Surveillance Radar systems.
