About the Position: The Davison Army Airfield, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, conducts continuous airfield operations in support of the National Capitol Region to provide all airfield users with a safe, efficient and controlled environment for aviation and contingency operations.

Duties

Meet, park, fuel, and defuel aircraft. Service aircraft by refueling or defueling following specific procedures to ensure safe operation. Document all fuel issues or defueling operations on appropriate forms. De-ice all types of aircraft in inclement weather. Operate 10-ton diesel power tractor with a 5500-gallon capacity fuel tanker and trailers. Perform ground maintenance duties. Required to perform Hot Re-Fuel mission tasks.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee must obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with HAZMAT and tanker endorsements.
  • Pre-employment drug test and random drug testing while in position. Must sign DA Form 5019-R.
  • May be required to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays and/or on-call duty hours.
  • Required to perform "Hot Re-Fuel" mission tasks.

  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) AIRCRAFT ATTENDANT (MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR)~ without more than normal supervision. Meeting incoming aircrafts, refueling aircrafts, directing aircraft into parking positions through hand signals, and servicing aircrafts. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes the tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble ShootingUse of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires moderate to heavy physical effort to lift objects (fertilizer, urea, seed, baggage, material, equipment, etc.) weighing up to 100 pounds. Moderate effort is exerted while operating vehicles, marshalling aircraft to parking areas, and in refueling and defueling operations. Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching, and climbing on or crawling under aircraft is required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Assignments are performed outside in all types of weather conditions (hot, cold, rain and snow). Incumbent is subject to injury due to falls from aircraft, riding mower equipment and ladders; rotating blades; burns from fuel; high noise levels; and accidents while driving vehicles or tractors. Incumbent performs work where dirt, mud, and fumes are present. The incumbent is required to wear safety shoes, eye goggles, ear/hearing protectors, gloves, coveralls, etc., and follow safety procedures.
