About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Information Technology Directorate, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

Duties

The Senior Storage Engineer will be responsible for providing data center support for a variety of storage systems and Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure services and solutions – both on premise and cloud. Leads team of technical specialists in developing innovative strategies for identifying and resolving implementation and integration issues. Provides NetApp Infrastructure: architectural design, maintenance and support IAW DISA, ARCYBER, DoD and IC guidelines to include applicable DISA STIG requirements. Identifies and analyzes technical trade-offs against optimum system integration, user functionality, and resource utilization and supports the implementation of and migration to cloud services. Performs a key role in the preparation and execution of continuity and disaster recovery processes and life cycle replacement strategies. Responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating installation, maintenance and enhancement of modern storage and backup systems.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
