The employee will serve as the Supervisory Examiner (Public Interest) and is responsible for supervising examination personnel, overseeing examination work, and other supervisory activities. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing public interest examination activities in accordance with FHFA examination policy and practice. The incumbent will also develop examination priorities, schedules, and supervisory ratings in consultation with the Associate Director of OSE.

Duties

Division of Public Interest Examinations, Office of Supervision Examinations The Office of Supervision and Examinations is responsible for conducting examination and ongoing supervision of FHFA's regulated entities including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks in the areas of public interest supervision. Public interest supervision includes compliance, mission achievement, and effectiveness of affordable housing and community development, diversity and inclusion, consumer protection (including unfair and deceptive acts or practices), fair lending, equitable housing, and fair housing programs. Major Duties and Responsibilities Provides focus on public interest areas such as compliance; mission achievement; effectiveness of affordable housing and community development; diversity and inclusion; consumer protection (including unfair and deceptive acts or practices); fair lending; equitable housing; fair housing programs; and other areas of public interest. Oversees and is accountable for administrative control, coordination, and completion of Public Interest related supervisory plans and examinations. Manages assessments and examinations over Public Interest areas as well as spectrum of related non-financial risks to promote effective risk management of core Agency Business. Serves as a key liaison between examiners and various levels of regulated entities' management and staff on Public Interest policies, procedures, and processes. Analyzes and provides recommendations to the Associate Director for agency action on matters requiring agency approval. Prepares and delivers clear, well-supported and persuasive Public Interest findings in formal written and verbal presentations on conclusions and relevant issues on financial institutions to senior leaders.

Qualifications

You may qualify for your desired series and grade level if you meet the following qualification requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have 52 weeks (one-year) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level as described below. EL-15 Experience: I qualify for the EL/GS-15 because I have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the EL/GS-14 or equivalent demonstrating work experience with the statements described below. Examples of specialized experience include: Experience conducting or leading financial institution examinations or investigations in any of the public interest areas of compliance, mission achievement and effectiveness of affordable housing and community development, diversity and inclusion, consumer protection (including unfair and deceptive acts or practices), fair lending, equitable housing, and/or fair housing programs. Demonstrated work experiences assigning, reviewing and/or evaluating the work of financial institution examiners, investigators, or financial services auditors. Communicating regulatory or technical financial institution activities in writing to internal and/or external stakeholders. Time-In-Grade: Current or former Federal government employees who have held an EL/GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time-in-grade requirement. To be eligible for the EL-15 position, applicants must have served 52 weeks as an EL/GS-14 or higher in the Federal Service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
