About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Joint Interagency Task Force South, Personnel, Manpower & Admin Directorate, U.S. Southern Command, Key West, FL 33040, J1.

Duties

Serves as the organizational point of contact and liaison between J1 and the individual Directorates on military and civilian personnel issues. Obtains specialized and non-specialized information for use in preparing correspondence, developing policies and procedures. Prepares non-technical correspondence and messages on own initiative and composes more complex correspondence when requested. Determines the necessary steps to perform the full range of administrative functions associated with personnel actions, assignments, promotions, and performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI) based on a Tier 5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel will be required no more than 5% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience demonstrating clerical and administrative support functions (i.e., personnel actions, writing orders for travel, drafting letters, time, and attendance, scheduling meetings, etc.) of an office, to include managing office property accountability. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal Service (GS/GG-08) or the second the second lower grade/level position in the Federal Service (GG/GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: International Relations, Political Science/Government and Public Relations. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.
