Duties
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, modifies, adjusts, and overhauls a wide variety of equipment and small engines. Assembles new equipment and may maintain parts inventory. May assist in inventories by counting items on hand, searching for missing items, and taking recounts as necessary. Apprises supervisor of parts that need to be ordered. Checks equipment turned in and ensures that all items are maintained in good order and working condition in accordance with safety regulations. Cleans and services supply items as required. Maintains maintenance records of work completed. Instructs patrons and/or co-workers on proper operation/maintenance of equipment. Understands, manages, and records environmental compliance regulations as they pertain to position Assists and serves customers, may answer telephone, operate a cash register, and receive payment. Complies with all fire, safety, security and environmental rules and regulations.

Qualifications
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Two years experience that demonstrates knowledge in the applicable combination of trades sufficient to perform the duties of the position. Must possess extensive knowledge on a wide range of equipment and parts. Must be able to independently interpret and apply technical and manufacturers manuals, diagrams, and specifications. Must have hands-on experience working with mechanical type hand tools. Knowledge of the range of items in stock to identify specific items for intended usage. Skill in soldering, reshaping, grinding, and filing parts that are not available. Knowledge of automotive/combustible engines- parts, services and tools. Skill to determine substitute and interchange items by referring to specifications, stock catalogues, manuals and bulletins. Skill to determine when equipment should be repaired or replaced in addition to making repairs to equipment.RESPONSIBILITY: Work is normally assigned through supervisor. Periodically follows preventive maintenance schedules. Selects tools and equipment and determines whether equipment/parts can be repaired or must be replaced. Completed work is checked by the supervisor for timeliness and proper operation of the equipment. Work is done on a day-to-day basis operations with minimum supervision.PHYSICAL EFFORT: Lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment. Continuous walking, standing, bending, stooping and working in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.WORKING CONDITIONS: Work may be performed both inside and outside. May be exposed to noise, draft and engine fumes from auto exhaust. Exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises. May come in contact with and be required to handle hazardous materials/substances. May be required to wear protective clothing/equipment. May be exposed to inclement weather when required to work outdoors.
