Duties
This Program Assistant position is located at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to:
Applying experience and knowledge of analytical techniques to perform basic and routine tasks in support of the day-to-day operations for assigned program.
Providing assistance and support to program office staff on the analysis of productivity, effectiveness of strategies, and specific approaches used in implementing the airport security program.
Assisting in the development of reports and formulating recommendations based on findings in effort to deter security risks, improve administrative or security processes, procedures, and compliance with current regulations.
Monitoring various metrics ensuring plans are tracked and necessary actions are being taken to complete established goals and objectives.
Researching files, records, and electronic retrieval systems to collect and assemble specific information for program interests.
Qualifications
To qualify for the SV-E Pay Band (equivalent to GS-7/8), you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-D Pay Band or GS-6 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience would include: performing administrative support functions to assist management and staff in the day-to-day program operations such as handling correspondence, keeping calendars, directing phone calls, and using automated systems to track assignments.
Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
