This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Command Control Communications, Computers Cyber Intelligence (C5I), Department's Maintenance Management Division, Base Alameda, CA.
Duties
This position serves as an IT Specialist and will report directly to the Technical Director. Base Alameda plans and provides telecommunications and information management service for all CG units within its Area of Responsibility (AOR). Qualifications
Basic Requirements:For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.Examples of such experience include:
Assisting in maintaining access, inventory, control modifications, and monitoring remediation activities for the base Alameda data facility and IT specific rooms.
Working with network specialists, applications developers, and security specialist to prevent recurring problem.
Planning, developing, installing, integrating, and maintaining existing Non-Enterprise Level Local Area Networks (LANs) consistent with existing or planned network and infrastructures.
Developing plans and designs for network modification and enhancement.
Performing work involving installation, configuration, and maintaining of LAN components such as hubs, switches, routers, servers, and cabling and infrastructures.
Supporting systems involving a wide variety of different platforms, operating systems, application and desktop configurations.
ORGS 09 Education:Completion of a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in the following: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.Note: You must include copies of your official transcripts in your application package if you are using education as a method of qualification.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
