This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Infrastructure & Services Divison-RN4.

Duties

Provide leadership, advice, guidance, planning, development, management to a diverse workforce. Develops work plans and budgets, oversee engineering, and manage DISN services with other organization managers and customers. Serve as a senior engineer and technical expert in telecommunications system supporting the DODIN. Manage, planning, funding, engineering, installation, and activation of DISA's DODIN transport system. Maintain liaison with senior staff officials of various organizations, both within and outside the DOD. Collaborate with senior leadership on goal development and resource allocation. Represent DISA at national and international military, federal government, technical, and management meetings.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. GG-0855 Electronics Engineer Basic Requirement: Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statistics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:- Professional registration- Written Test- Specified academic courses- Related curriculum - With this criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties. For more detailed information on the above criteria, please go to the Qualification Standards Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: experience in developing policy and providing guidance in the planning, engineering, implementation, maintenance, sustainment, and life-cycle logistics of classified and unclassified networks. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume.
