You will serve as a Range Safety Officer in the Beaufort Operations Department, Range Management Division of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.
Duties
You will Develop, publish, and coordinate procedure for TBR Range Regulations.
You will participate as a member of the accident investigation board. lAW MCO 3570.l(Range Safety)
You will coordinates with Explosive Ordinance disposal (ECU) for range sweep operations.
You will coordinate with ECU to establish procedures for routine as well as emergency EOD requirements.
You will interface with installation staff activities and outside agencies through the Internet and personal contact, to ensure that TBR fully complies with training requirements and safety standards.
You will develop, modify and maintain Surface Danger Zones (SDZ)for ground fires, Weapons Danger Zones(WDZ) for aviation ordnance, and
conflicts for TBR.
You will Review and recommend approval of all non-standard live-fire events not covered in the TBR Range Regulations.
You will coordinate with Range Scheduling to identify conflicts in scheduling and coordinates measures to de-conflict requested training to aid in the scheduling process.
You will ensures all Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS) Range safety-related data is current, to include OIC/RSO certifications and identification of facility conflicts.
You will be responsible for the documentation for designated live-fire training areas to the Range Control Officer for certification. lAW MCO 3550.9 (Range Certification)
You will ensures that Range Management personnel are trained in range safety and are kept current regarding specific range regulations, local policies, and safety programs.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to posses and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- Must be willing and able to use protective clothing and gear and observe safety precautions.
- This is a Emergency Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Must attend and pass Intermediate Level Range Safety course, GIS for Range Managers, and Military Airspace Managers Course (or equivalent).
- Must attend and pass Administrative Laser Safety Officer Course, the Tactical Laser Safety Officer Course or the Laser System Safety Officer’s Course either Category 1 or 2.
- Must be a graduate of the Inter-Service Resident Range Safety Course, Intermediate Level.
- Must be a graduate of the Weapons Danger Zones (WDZ) course.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing expertise and guidance in planning and managing range safety practices and procedures that are essential for safe, realistic combat readiness training aboard TBR. Serves as the Range Safety Program Manager, SME and action officer responsible for establishing, disseminating, maintaining, and enforcing Range Safety (ground to ground, air to ground, explosives, and laser), and Range Radio Frequency Hazard by utilizing a variety of technical, analytical, advisory, consultative, liaison and coordinating techniques.

Education
Applicants may also qualify based on education OR a combination of education and experience, in lieu of the one year of specialized experience listed above, through ONE of the following:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
OR
Possession of LL.M., if related.
OR
Possess a combination of specialized experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal 100 percent.
