To be eligible for the Pathways Intern Program, individuals must have been accepted for enrollment or be enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) In a qualifying educational institution on a full or half time basis.

Duties

As a participant in the Pathways Intern Program, you will receive both formal and on-the-job training to develop the required knowledge and skill to successfully perform the duties of the position. Make recommendations or prepares drafts of materials for use by senior attorneys. Examine, analyze, and evaluate cases involving government contract protest issues and/or contract dispute issues. Prepare legal memoranda, make recommendations, and draft legal opinions, legal documents, and correspondence based on such research and evaluation. Research issues that may significantly affect Agency programs. Perform a variety of other legal and factual research.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited school
  • Students must also be attending an American Bar Association Accredited Law School. Must maintain student eligibility for the duration of internship.

Qualifications

Pathways Interns qualify based on their educational achievements. Students must be enrolled in a law school pursuing a Juris Doctor Degree or a LL.B Legum Baccalaureus Degree on a full-time or half-time (Half-time basis is defined by the academic institution that the student is enrolled or accepted into) student into an accredited college or university in a qualifying degree-seeking program. For the GS-07 grade level: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision after completing a Bachelor's degree. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.) For the GS-09 grade level: Completion of 2 full academic years of graduate level education, or a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.) In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing KSA's or competencies are required.
