About the Position: Serve as a Survivability Scientist (Human Systems) in the Survivability and Effects Analysis Division, US Army Nuclear and Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Agency (USANCA), Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) G-3/5/7, Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA).

Duties

Develop, coordinate, and implement human systems survivability and policy programs. Analyze, develop, advocate for, and defends DCS G-3/5/7 and Army policy related to technical and scientific interpretation of nuclear weapon effects into policy and procedures. Develop survivability assessments of future Army units on nuclear battlefields. Collaborate and coordinate with Army Major Commands (e.g. Army Futures Command) to assess multi-domain operations and Joint Force synchronization strategies for incorporating the deleterious effects from nuclear weapons. Evaluate the requirements for policy development to support the introduction of new survivability technology. Serve as a nuclear survivability advisor/nuclear modeler to the Nuclear Employment Augmentation Teams.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Physical Scientist: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes integrating nuclear human systems survivability requirements into mission critical documents; developing human systems (crew-served) survivability assessments of units on nuclear battlefields; developing human systems survivability policy, regulations, and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Nuclear PhysicsReasoningStrategic ThinkingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
