You will serve as a ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT in the SUBMARINE TRAINING FACILITY SAN DIEGO, CA.

Duties

You will assist staff with questions and issues related to pay and administrative functions. You will access established files to provide information upon request from management to support programs. You will interpret directives to implement administrative procedures. You will edit and prepare awards and evaluations in draft form for review by upper management. You will access established US Navy and DoD web-based personnel databases and transaction systems to support pay and administrative functions

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is sedentary with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items.
  • Work is performed in a typical office setting.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: sector 1) Manages records of military personnel by verifying personnel data and proper submission of documents; 2) Researches military pay and personnel questions regarding entitlements leave policies, leave and earning statements, and transitioning between commands; 3) Drafts various correspondence ensuring proper format and grammar; 4) Facilitate pay and personnel transactions for command personnel on the behalf of the pay and personnel supporting organization; and 5) Process military awards and submit required documentation.
