The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an aircraft mechanic and technical authority of assigned aircraft. Primary responsibility for performing, coordinating, overseeing the maintenance and periodic inspections, and to test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify aircraft fuel distribution systems, repair leaks of external/integrated tanks.
Duties
DUTY 1:
Inspects, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, and tests a variety of major aircraft fuel systems, their assemblies, and components.
DUTY 2:
Prepares and operates fuel pressurization test stands to perform fuel tank and component integrity checks.
DUTY 3:
Uses and maintains hand and power tools, test equipment and other powered/ non-powered equipment required to accomplish duties.
DUTY 4:
Accomplishes record keeping, manual and/or automated.
DUTY 5:
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.

- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
- Must obtain /maintain certification as a local Unit Rescue Team member upon assignment to the unit. This includes the requirement to always maintain respirator qualifications.
- This position is a mobility coded position. Will be required to occasionally deploy. Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable mobility requirements.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8200 Fluid Systems Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
