This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, Base Portsmouth, Naval Engineering Department, Industrial Production Facility DD-Detroit located in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.

Duties

The position provides support of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Naval Engineering Department, Industrial Operations Division in DD-Detroit which includes the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment in industrial, institutional, office, and residential building, and on ships.  Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:  Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Knowledge of Electrical Equipment Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability To Use Electrical Drawings Ability to Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work Trouble shooting (electrical) National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
