About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing. Employees have access to the recreational facilities.

Duties

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the West Point Visitor Center. Assist in planning, developing, and implementing the customer service program. Provide customer support (both internal and external) by researching and responding to telephone, email, and general public inquiries. Offer information on the West Point Community and the surrounding area to the visiting public. Confer with action officers and other subject matter experts to obtain the latest and most accurate information and imagery approved for public release. Coordinates with Visual Information (CIO/G6) for photography, video recording, audio/visual support for visitor center events, and the printing and distribution of Visitor Center products.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Composing correspondence in reply to informational requests on a wide variety of unrelated subjects based on familiarity with office policies and activities; 2) Using a variety of automated systems in the office environment to store, retrieve, and manipulate data with word processing, database management, spreadsheet, and graphics software packages; AND 3) Providing customer service by receiving calls and greeting visitors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
