Inspects assigned work area to evaluate cleaning needs: determine what must be done, what routine equipment and supplies are needed and whether unusual or special equipment or supplies are needed. Work is performed in accordance with established housekeeping and aseptic techniques.

Duties

Train other housekeeping aids on proper use of equipment and chemicals. Maintains current knowledge and answers questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Assures the safety and housekeeping rules are followed. The majority of the housekeeping assignments involve working in the immediate vicinity of patients, visitors, and other staff. Incumbent must be diplomatic and courteous and exhibit good interpersonal skills (cheerful, congenial, caring) toward all customers and peers. Must be knowledgeable and skillful in performing full range of deep cleaning duties and special cleaning tasks in accordance with established housekeeping and aseptic techniques. Must able to follow written and oral instructions, and use full range of cleaning equipment and supplies. Incumbent inspects assigned work area to evaluate cleaning needs: determine what must be done, what routine equipment and supplies are needed and whether unusual or special equipment or supplies are needed. Incumbent is required to wear isolation clothing when working in a contaminated area. Incumbent is exposed to odors and skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions and falls from ladders or slippery surfaces. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Physical effort is used in moving furniture, setting up ladders and using heavy cleaning equipment. Frequently, employee must move objects weighing 40 pounds and occasionally move objects weighing 50 pounds.
