This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Special Support Unit (S-11), Seattle Washington This position(s) primary purpose is to provide administrative and operational support to the office and its subordinate offices in providing analytical expertise for the planning and evaluation of all policies and procedures.

As a Administrative Support Specialistyour typical work assignments may include: Analyzes spending rates and makes projections in order to assess funding needs. Responsible for planning and carrying out activities of Division's Title III program's regulatory functions. Reviews and coordinates accounting documents that reflect relatively stable budget execution. Assures that program funding data is entered correctly into agency's financial management system. Assists in developing and implementing plans for disseminating routine information about the Title III program.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent GS-07 and/or GS-09. You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: GS-09: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 Federal grade level performing such duties as: 1) Providing aid in spending rates and projections in order to assess funding needs; 2) Assisting in conducting group meetings with enforcement personnel in preparation for Title III Investigations to provide complex Information; and, 3) Assisting in monitoring day-to-day operations and troubleshoots technical and administrative problems. OR Have a two (2) full academic years of graduate level education or completion of all requirements for a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or completion of all requirements for an LL.B or J.D. degree, if related. OR Have a combination of both, education and experience. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which demonstrates your ability in: 1) Providing guidance to managers in determining appropriate costs, writing sole source justifications, and communicating with contractors; 2) Analyzing spending rates and makes projections in order to assess funding needs; 3) Conducting group meetings with enforcement personnel in preparation for Title III Investigations to provide complex Information; and, 4) Monitoring day-to-day operations and troubleshoots technical and administrative problems. GS-11: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 Federal grade level performing such duties as planning and scheduling briefings, presentations, memoranda, teletypes, and letters as they relate to a variety of personnel issues, and implementing training programs for administrative and clerical personnel. OR Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related. OR Have a combination of both, education and experience. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience for this position includes: Competencies: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competencies in the following areas: Administration and ManagementFinancial ManagementManages ResourcesProblem Solving Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F).
