Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.
Duties
The incumbent serves as a Supply Technician in the Facility, Logistics, and Administration, Support Services, Facilities Branch.
Arranges for the shipment of a wide variety of items. Ensures all items receive the proper labeling and postal charges and are packaged to arrive safely. Organizes merchandise within the warehouse and stores goods in their designated location.
Notifies management and supervisors of product shortages in order to maintain accurate information on the website.
Accurately maintains the accounting and reporting system for non-expendable property and/or consumable supplies. Conducts physical inventories of limited consumables as required by regulations and maintains all inventory records.
Provides customer service for unique requests and other items requiring special handling. Codes and classifies requisitions, shipping orders, and other documents, and follows up on requests after purchase order has gone to contracting.

- Please note, this is NOT a 100% virtual/remote position where work may be performed from any location in the US. This position is eligible for local telework near the duty station of the position, subject to management review and approval.
Qualifications
One year of generalized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-04) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
GS-05 Specialized experience is defined as: performing a range of clerical assignments, reviewing supply documents for accuracy, tracking purchase request and invoices and notifying management of product shortages; applying shipping regulations in preparing packages, using proper labeling and postal charges, verify incoming shipments and invoices, keeping automated systems accurate and up to date, organize stock, document all property and prepare various reports.
Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Education
Substitution of Education for Experience: Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS at the time you apply. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
