This position will serve as a Nursing Assistant for the Claremore Indian Hospital GMS Department. The primary purpose of this position is to provide nursing assistance to doctors and nurses in the care and treatment of mildly or chronically ill patients. The incumbent will report to the GMS/ICU Supervisory Nurse.

Duties

Perform personal nursing care such as feeding, bathing, lifting, turning, and personal hygiene duties Perform supporting diagnostic duties such as taking patient vitals and report deviations to the supervisor Apply simple dressings, binders, and heat and cold locally Observe and report wound condition and drainage Maintain a clean and safe environment for the patient, sort supplies and linens as needed

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Experience Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Qualifying specialized experience includes nonprofessional nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other medical, nursing, or patient care facility, or in such work as that of a home health aid performing duties such as: Providing personal nursing care such as providing pre- and post-operative care. Support duties for diagnostic and technical treatment procedures, such as setting up and operating special medical equipment and apparatus. Caring for mentally ill patients, including observing, recording, and reporting changes in their behavior, and providing reassurance and encouragement. Assisting surgeons and registered nurses in operating room activities, including passing instruments, maintaining sterile conditions, and draping and positioning patients. or Education and Training: For GS-4: Successful completion of a 2-year degree program in an accredited community college, junior college, or college or university in practical nursing or in a field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position, such as education in a program for a psychology, psychiatric, or operating room technician. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your application must clearly demonstrate that you meet at least one of the below minimum qualifications: GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-03 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Experience Includes: Providing nursing care to patients in a Med-Surge or ICU unit; Assisting RNs with assessment of patients by obtaining vital signs, such as orthostatic blood pressure, pulses, weights, finger stick blood sugars; and Performing general maintenance duties including cleaning, arranging, and restocking units. OR Your resume and/or transcripts must demonstrate that you have completed a 2-year degree program in an accredited community college, junior college, college, or university in practical nursing or in a field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position, such as education in a program for a psychology, psychiatric, or operating room technician. OR Your resume and/or transcripts must demonstrate that you have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-04 grade level.. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
