This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia. Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an ORI Deputy Director you will use your knowledge of and experience overseeing and directing Public Health Service (PHS) research integrity activities for the Secretary, to optimize business results and customer experience by: Supervising the day-to-day activities of assigned staff, plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. Participating in meetings held by the ASH and other HHS management officials, federal agencies, customers and others as appropriate and represent HHS externally. Providing advice on program needs and future directions for resource allocation based on experience with ongoing activities of the Office. Drafting changes to statutes and regulations to aid in the preparation of policy to accomplish programmatic initiatives. Conducting substantive independent reviews and analyses, carrying their focus to increased levels of detail, of unique management functions, policies, strategic plans, goals and objectives. Establishing project study parameters and conducts extensive research and analysis to include eliciting and evaluating comments on existing and proposed substantive changes to ORI and OASH programs, policies and objectives.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. AND Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing at least 3 of the following: Developing policies, regulations, initiatives, and/or organization priorities. Leading projects and/or teams. Overseeing the development and/or evaluation of federal government programs. Establishing short and/or long-range strategic plans to achieve agency goals. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
