This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northwest Region, Fort Hall Agency, Branch of Irrigation, in Fort Hall, Idaho.. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.

Duties

Inspect, repair, and trouble shoot equipment relating to well pumps, electric motors, panels, and other electrical equipment. Determine and recommend repair and placement of mechanical and electrical equipment. Maintain parts, tools, and equipment inventory. Operate and maintain electric pumps for irrigation water system flow. Responsible for all safety factors inside electrical pumps, panels, and equipment.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: As a UTILITY SYSTEMS REPAIRER OPERATOR, incumbent must have the ability to do the work without more than normal supervision. Skills and knowledge to perform electrical, pump repair, valve maintenance and repair, mechanical repair of trash racks etc., with only general supervision subject to occasional inspection. Troubleshoot and take initiative to solve problems and accomplish work assignments in a safe manner; knowledge of a variety of technical trade terminology, tools, and equipment in more than one area; strong work ethic, dexterity and perform strenuous work as required by the position; ability to use a computer, maintain records, and perform simple arithmetic calculations. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C, Qualification Standard Handbook) will be used in determining applicants' qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through the experience shown in your written resume and your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.
