Duties

You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER in the PAINT SHOP (71A), WATERFRONT SERVICES DIVISION (TRF-340), REPAIR DEPARTMENT (TRF-300), TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY (TRIREFFAC) in KINGS BAY, GA. You will provide customer service by issuing Hazardous Material (HM) in proper types and quantities for the requesting work center as specified on the command Authorized Use List (AUL). You will maintain specified inventory levels of HM in the Issue Center. You will perform inspection, receipt, labeling, and storage of HM inventory awaiting issue. You will receive unused, less than issue unit quantities of HM from using work center personnel.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as: Experience applying knowledge of the intent and procedural aspects of the Navy Hazardous Materials Control and Management (HMC&M) Programs including local regulations and standards as related to TRF operations. Experience applying knowledge of operating a variety of materials handling equipment (a forklift, hand trucks, hand dollies, carts, pallet jacks small vehicles, etc.) and automated material handling systems. Experience applying and interpreting regulations, instructions, procedural documents, and specifications. Experience using management equipment such as computers, stand-alone and system software, other computer peripheral equipment, and microfiche equipment to maintain records, compile data, and produce reports. Experience providing verbal communication and customer service.
